Jones and Grandison hopeful for Blades trip

Shrewsbury Town manager Graham Turner is keeping an eye on the fitness of defenders Darren Jones and Jermaine Grandison ahead of Saturday's League One opener at Sheffield United.

Jones, a summer signing from Aldershot, missed last weekend's 4-0 defeat at Leeds United in the Capital One Cup owing to a calf complaint.

Grandison, meanwhile, has yet to train this week after turning his ankle at Elland Road, with the boss monitoring both players closeley before finalising his selection plans for the trip to Bramall Lane.

Graham said: "Darren will train today. He's had a few little niggles and it's his calf is struggling with so we'll see how he is.

"Jermaine turned his ankle at Leeds and has not yet trained this week but we expect him to join in again on Thursday."
