After the Lord Mayor’s show!! I’m afraid, four players coming out with any credit and unfortunately the remainder not continuing with the early standards they have set.
Although the score seems tight our first half performance could have seen the opposition further ahead at the break as opposed to just 2-0. Poor reactions and not tracking runners resulted in the first goal on 9 minutes when Wrexham passed through us too easily and when a cross came over from the left it was met at the far post unchallenged to give Wearing no chance of stopping. Reaction you would expect from ourselves and yes we forced a corner on 17 minutes only for Wrexham to break away and score after some woeful defending it has to be said.

As half time approached our decision to make changes became difficult as we had seven contenders. Scott Ryan returned from injury and injected some urgency in the boys along with Jack Gwilliams we pushed and began to create some good opportunities whether it was from set pieces or open play. Lacking that desire and conviction from crosses we never really believed we could score and with attempts from Evans and Stephenson being denied by the keeper it seemed getting a lifeline would not come, until the referee gave a soft free kick in our favour for Fletcher to take it quickly to Ryan who fired the ball low into the bottom corner on 85 minutes but that was that for us.

Overall we have to regroup and get back to some hard work Monday. Defeat must hurt as it affects your weekend and becomes a long week until your next game but mopping around and feeling sorry for ourselves does not get you over setbacks.
