Jones hails Taylor impact

Defender backs JT to continue his good form

Defender Darren Jones has praised the impact of in-form winger Jon Taylor in helping Shrewsbury Town put together an improved run of just one defeat from the last seven games.

Taylor has found the net in four successive matches with his late cross-shot salvaging a point from a 2-2 Boxing Day draw against Notts County.

"That's just the run Jon's on at the moment," said Jones. "Whatever he touches goes in the back of the net and I just hope he can keep doing it because he's keeping us in games at the moment.

"It was such a relief coming in to training a couple of days after the Bury game and Jon telling me he was all right.

"He's massive for us at the moment, absolutely massive. He's such a good player and he's come on leaps and bounds in the last few weeks. He's a big player.

"He's a top man, Jon, everyone loves him. There's not a bad bone in his body. He comes in every day and gives 100 per cent. He's just an absolute top class pro and it shows.

"The last month or so he's really took it to another level."

Jones is now looking forward to high flying Brentford's visit to the Greenhous Meadow on Saturday.

"It's just another club," he added. "They're no bigger than Notts County, no bigger than MK Dons. We'll just do everything the same that we have been doing and hopefully get the three points this time."
