Summers eyes Jan 12 return

20 December 2012

Luke's surgery goes well and hopes to be back in action soon

Luke Summerfield has set himself a target of being fit and available for the home game against Hartlepool on January 12 after undergoing a hernia operation yesterday.

The midfielder is keen to return as quickly as possible and believes the home match against the north easterners is a realistic date to aim for.

"Luke had surgery yesterday and it's gone okay," said Town manager Graham Turner. "He's targeting January 12 for a return. I think that's possibly a little bit optimistic after a hernia operation but you want somebody to set themselves a good target and that's his.

"We're hoping all will go well and he'll be available for the Hartlepool game.

"It's one of those unfortunate things that came about probably five or six weeks ago. Sometimes players can go on with symptoms of a hernia problem, as Mark Wright did a couple of seasons ago when he carried on until the end of the season.

"It depends on the severity of the problem and the pain levels."
