Defender Comes In On Loan

24 July 2012

20 year old central defender Michael Hector joins on loan from Reading

Town have this morning confirmed that they are taking young Reading defender Michael Hector on a youth loan deal.
20 year old Hector progressed through the youth ranks at Reading before becoming a pro at the Madejski Stadium.  He is a central defender and has spent spells out on loan at Bracknell Town, Havant & Waterlooville, Dundalk and spent a big part of last season on loan at Barnet where he played over 20 games for Barnet.  He is thought highly of at the Premier League side and they hope the deal will see him establish himself in Town’s League 1 campaign.
The paperwork has been completed and Michael will be in contention to take part in tonight’s pre-season game with Birmingham City at the Greenhous Meadow.
Town manager Graham Turner has been tracking Michel for a while now and is pleased to have finally got the deal sorted:”We are pleased that we have managed to get Michael on board; it will be youth loan which will be reviewed after 6 months.
“There were a number of other clubs interested in taking him on loan but the pleasing thing for me is that Reading wanted him to come us and Michael was more than happy to join.
“He played around 27 games for Barnet last season and did well in League 2; he can play in the centre of defence or in central midfield if needed.
“Reading think highly of him and think he has the potential to become a regular in their first team so it will be good to have a player of his calibre in our squad.”
