Graham Turner’s thoughts after the 2-0 win over Leicester City

Town continued their pre-season programme with a convincing 2-0 win over Leicester City at the Greenhous Meadow.
Terry Gornell gave Town the lead in the first half and then in the second half Marvin Morgan headed home a Rob Purdie assist.
Elsewhere over the field there were good performances from the Town players to make today’s result a convincing one against decent Championship opposition.
After the game Town manager Graham Turner spoke to the press to give his thoughts on the game:”It was an ok performance, it was an improvement on the Birmingham game and now we are expecting an improvement on this game when we play Wolves on Tuesday.
“Goals give you confidence and we’ve scored at good times today, which in turn has given us the confidence to pass it around nicely and play the type of football that we want to play.
“I’m pleased with the way we played, the way we looked organised and with the fitness levels.”
It was a strong Leicester City side who kicked the game of and the manager was asked if he thought it had been a comfortable result:”I don’t think we will look at today and say that it was comfortable but what we did have were some good individual performances.
“You look through the Leicester team sheet and there is a challenge there for us, they have some very good players who people recognise and the challenge was to go and match them.
“I think that is what we did over the 90 minutes and that will be one of the pleasing things that we will take from today.”
Town’s goals both came from strikers with Terry Gornell and then Marvin Morgan beating Kasper Schmeichel in the Foxes net.  They were both good finishes and the manager expects both players to continue their good form:”It was a nice build up with a very good finish, but Terry is capable of that.
“We’ve lost James Collins who had scored goals for that and we have to replace those goals, there is no reason why Terry and Marvin can’t improve on their goals tallies from last season.
“Terry technically is a very good player and that was shown in his goal and in a lot of his other play.
“Marvin got into a good position, it wasn’t the best of shots from Rob Purdie but Marvin has read the situation well and grabbed another good goal.”
The result is another step as Town look to continue the hard work to prepare the side for the start of the npower League 1 campaign.  The focus now switches to Wolves on Tuesday night and the continuation of the squads improvement:”We are getting there; the next couple of weeks will be focusing on sharpening players up, getting the quicker feet and passing improved.
“We have another good game on Tuesday against Wolves and the progress we are making is encouraging.”
