GT welcomes Town's Sky TV date

Manager looking forward to Walsall TV test

News that Sky TV will be returning to the Greenhous Meadow to broadcast Shrewsbury Town's League One local derby clash in October has been welcomed by manager Graham Turner.

The clash with the Saddlers has been put back a day to Sunday, October 14 (3.30pm).

It is one of three changes to the club's initial League One fixture list with new dates arranged for the away matches at Bury and Carlisle United.

Graham said: "It always adds something when the Sky TV cameras are here. The fact it's a local derby means it should be a good crowd with a decent atmosphere and we're delighted to host the Sky cameras."

The boss also welcomed having new dates for the games at Bury and Carlisle.

Town will now meet Bury at Gigg Lane on Friday, December 21 (7.45pm) instead of the following Saturday afternoon while the Easter trip to Carlisle United has been brought forward 24 hours to Good Friday, March 29 (3pm).

He added: "Traditionally, the Saturday before Christmas is the worst supported weekend of the season so there is some sense in making the Bury game a Friday night.

"Moving the Carlisle game to Good Friday is also a sensible one. It gives us an extra 24 hours of rest, particularly in view of the long journey there and back."
