Skitty takes players for early dunes workout
Four Shrewsbury Town players joined physio Chris Skitt for some conditioning work on the Welsh coast ahead of their return to pre-season training later this week.
Tom Bradshaw, Jon Taylor, Connor Goldson and Marvin Morgan headed to Ynyslas, near Borth, on Friday to complete some fitness work in the sand dunes. Sean McAllister, released at the end of last season, also took part.
"We did the same a couple of years ago and it proved beneficial," said physio Skitt. "It's good for explosive work.
"It was a useful exercise and a nice way to prepare the lads ahead of starting pre-season training..
"We did both core and strength work as well as some endurance runs while we also did some spring work up some steep sand dunes.
"The use of over power training has been used for quite some time, with one of the most notable examples the athlete Iwan Thomas.
"He trained solely on sand dunes for two years and it helped him romp home with a Commonwealth Games gold for the 400 metres in a record time."
