Shawbury camp "intense" says Joe Anyon

Keeper enjoys useful exercise with new team mates

The Shrewsbury Town squad are back from a training camp at RAF Shawbury, with goalkeeper Joe Anyon admitting it was as tough as he anticipated.

The former Port Vale and Lincoln man, who will be battling it out with Chris Weale for the No 1 spot, said it was very worthwhile.

Anyon added it was also a useful exercise in helping the new signings bond with the rest of the Town squad.

"It was hard work and it was intense," said Anyon. "They were long days but overall it was about team building.

"We had problem solving exercises which all the team did very well with and we all bonded very well.

"It was always going to be two days of hell but we went there for a reason and that was to hit the ground running when the season comes.

"It was a great way for the new lads to bond with the lads who were here last year. It was overall a good exercise.

"It was about togetherness and everyone dug in and did well.
