The long Wednesday afternoon trip to Blackpool for a rearranged Alliance Cup game proved well worthwhile.
Even after going behind on nine minutes through some sloppy defending, our overall performance was very good.
We carved out numerous opportunities from different areas of the pitch before Sam Molineux equalised on 24 minutes with a well struck shot at the back post following a fine delivery from a Jack Richards corner.
It was Richards who had our next two attempts at goal, narrowly missing with one and forcing a good save with the other.
The second half continued in much the same way with us dominating possession and creating the better chances throughout.
Another delivery from a Richards corner was half cleared straight to Dave Easthope who hit an excellent low drive into the net from 25 yards.
Continuing our good play we should have killed them off but a lack of concentration presented Blackpool with a soft penalty to make the score 2-2.
Chance after chance came and our thoughts were beginning to lead to the need for penalties until some clever bright play from Deion Evans and Molineux carved open the Blackpool defence and give us a 3-2 lead on 88 minutes.
It was quickly followed by another longer range effort from Evans which the keeper fumbled to seal a well earned 4-2 victory and secure a second round tie at home to Hull City.
