Coventry trip in FA Youth Cup

24 October 2012

Youth team travel to the Ricoh Arena this evening

It's FA Youth Cup time once again with Shrewsbury Town's youngsters heading to Coventry City in round one tonight.

The match will be played at the Ricoh Arena, kicking off at 7pm, with the Coventry side under the guidance of former Shrewsbury left back Gregor Rioch.

"It's a great opportunity for us to go to a fantastic stadium and a chance for the lads to show what they can do," said Wayne Evans, Town's head of youth.

"It would have been nice to have a home tie but Coventry is a nice place to go to.

"Greg Rioch's in charge there and they've got a good set up bit if we can go there and play to our potential we should have a chance."

Wayne stressed everyone was keen to play but added those not involved will still have the chance to play at the Greenhous Meadow when Town take on Port Vale in the Midland Youth Cup on November 24.

Last season Town beat Notts County in round one of the FA Youth Cup before bowing out at Darlington in the second round.

Admission to tonight's tie at the Ricoh Arena is £3 for adults and £1 for children.

The winners of the tie will meet either Oldham Athletic or Accrington Stanley in the next round of the competition.
