Dean receives cheques from OSC

16 October 2012

Presentation to Deano ahead of last Sunday's game

Former Shrewsbury Town defender Dean Holden was presented with cheques to the value of just over £1,000 before Sunday's Greenhous Meadow clash against his current club Walsall.

Representatives of Shrewsbury Town's Official Supporters Club handed over the money which was donated in memory of Dean's young daughter Cici.

The OSC held a collection ahead of Shrewsbury's home match against Swindon last month after being touched by the heartache suffered by Dean and his wife Danielle together with the couple's two young sons.

The Holden family had just arrived in Lanzarote for a family holiday in May when they tragically lost 17-month-old Cici to meningococcal sepsis, a rare bacterial blood infection.

An impressive £1,070,74 was raised by Shrewsbury and Swindon fans with the money handed to Dean shortly before kick off on Sunday.

It will be donated to the Meningitis Trust and St Mark's Primary School in Worsley, Greater Manchester, where the couple's sons, Joey and Ellis, are pupils.
