A lively start today and a clean sheet gives the boy’s confidence going into our FA Youth Cup 1st round tie away at Coventry on Wednesday (24th) night.
Good movement from Scott Ryan and Sam Molinuex upfront gave us early opportunity’s to force the pressure on Port Vale and it was from a threaded pass from Easthope which found Ryan to shoot across the goal and into the corner of the net for the only goal of the game on 16th minutes. Similar chances came for Ryan as he looked our main threat of scoring along with Molinuex’s movement we always felt we had creativity in the side. Half chances did come and go but it was the consistent Connor Wearing in our goal which eventually gave us three points and the victory.
Throughout the game Wearing was worked a lot harder than the Port Vale keeper making 3 to 4 routine saves and 2 to 3 exceptional saves with us in return only forcing Port Vale into one noticeable save in the second half but overall pleased with the clean sheet and win as we look forward to the Coventry match at the Ricoh stadium.
