GT urges Town to 'wise up'

Boss wants to stop conceding late goals

Graham Turner wants his Shrewsbury Town players to "wise up to game situations" as they continue to come to terms with life in League One.

The manager admitted it was disappointing to concede a late winner at Notts County last weekend, the second time in as many weeks Town have suffered a late blow after Tranmere grabbed an equaliser in the closing stages at the Greenhous Meadow recently.

"Most of the stuff this season has been very acceptable but we had a very slow start to the game on Saturday," said the manager.

"After the first 15, 20 minutes, I thought we got a foothold in the game and got into one or two interesting positions, but we've got to wise up to game situations.

"If you go 2-1 up then you've got to make sure the next five or 10 minutes are crucial.

"And if you are 2-2 with minutes to go, you've got to come away with something.

"The concern again is we've conceded another late goal. We did against Tranmere which cost us two points and we've done the same at Notts County.

"That is basically a concentration situation. It's another thing we've got to look at and aim to put right."
