Gaffer hoping for early decision on offers

Graham Turner hopes to hear sooner rather than later whether the six players he has offered new Shrewsbury Town deals to are likely to accept.

The manager has offered contracts to Jermaine Grandison and Aaron Wildig plus Jon Taylor, Connor Goldson, Tom Bradshaw and Ryan Woods, all products of the club's youth set up.

"It's very formal on the day it takes place," said GT. "They're actually handed a written offer and we have to get them to sign to say they've received an offer.

"I would expect phone calls from each of their agents over the next few days, few weeks.

"From the date we've made them the offer, which was yesterday, they have a month to let us know whether they accept or not.

"I've already spoken to an agent representing one of the players and I think we're well on the way to getting that one settled."

GT added he would ideally receive an early indication from the players to allow him to concentrate on bringing in transfer targets.

"We've got a problem with Jermaine Grandison," he added. "He's been offered a new contract but we need to just clarify exactly what the position is with his injury and he sees a specialist on Thursday.

"We're hoping he receives the all clear and we can move on with negotiations and get him settled.

"Jon Taylor, Connor Goldson, Tom Bradshaw, Aaron Wildig, I think they'll be phone calls from their agents, Ryan Woods the same, and I would hope to get the whole thing settled sooner rather than later so I'll get a clear picture of which of the young players we've got in early on and I can move on to what we need to recruit."
