Town wait on scan results for Jones

4 April 2013

Club should know more about extent of injury in next 24 hours

The club are awaiting the results of a scan on the shoulder of central defender Darren Jones who has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

Jones suffered the pain of a dislocated shoulder in the early stages of the 2-2 draw at Carlisle United on Good Friday.

"We're still waiting for scan results so they should be in in the next 24 hours," said manager Graham Turner. "He's certainly written off for the rest of the season and it could be a lot longer than that if he requires surgery.

"We're looking at anywhere between six weeks and six months. It depends on the severity of the injury.

"Obviously, we're hoping it will be in the short term and that he will be fit to train through the close season and be fit for the start of next season, but it's touch and go at the moment."

GT added Jones had been a consistent performer for Town in his first season at the Greenhous Meadow after joining the club from Aldershot last summer.

"I think we missed him a little bit against Crawley on Monday," he said. "We got opened up a little too often for comfort.

"He's been a steady influence at the back, unspectacular, but there's been a constant level of performance that has been solid."
