Woods delighted at debut

Ryan still buzzing after making debut against Oldham

Ryan Woods admits he's still buzzing from the thrill of making his Football League debut as a late substitute during the midweek win over Oldham Athletic.

The midfielder, 19, replaced Aaron Wildig for the closing stages against the Latics and now hopes to be involved once again when Shrewsbury Town complete their season against Portsmouth on Saturday.

"It was a great feeling to get on and I'm just hoping for more appearances now," said Woods, a first year pro. "Hopefully I'll get on again on Saturday against Portsmouth.

"It was nice to hear the fans cheer when I got on against Oldham so they seem to like me which is good.

"I just had an adrenaline buzz and I've never been so quick to get changed!

"It was a good feeling to come on in a game we won as well. Hopefully there's plenty more to come."

His mum and dad were here for the Oldham game to witness his big moment and now he's under orders to get more tickets for family and friends ahead of the Portsmouth match.

"It should be a great atmosphere against Portsmouth," he added. "They've got really good travelling fans but hopefully we'll get another three points and end the season on a high."
