Trust's Ability Counts Squad enjoy match action

The youngsters who have been taking part in the successful short breaks sports sessions run by Shrewsbury Town's Community Trust since April enjoyed the chance to play against opposition from around the county last weekend.

Community officer Lee Pugh took a group of children to Telford on Saturday to represent Shrewsbury Town at Shropshire FA's Ability Counts Football Day held at Telford Juniors FC.

It was specifically for children with disabilities or additional needs.

"They took part in coaching sessions and matches celebrating The FA’s 150 year anniversary," said Lee. "Thanks to all of the parents and brothers and sisters that all came along on the day to offer their support.

"I have been working hard to promote the sessions that Trust has to offer and numbers are now growing.

"It was just brilliant to be able to take the children to Telford for some friendly competition.

"Please get in touch with us at the Community Trust if you would like to get in to football or sports.

"A big thank you also to Eve Bailey from the Shropshire FA for organising the day and to Telford Juniors FC who provided the facilities and very friendly hospitality on the day."

Anyone keen to get involved in the project run by Shrewsbury Town's Community Trust should contact Lee Pugh on (01743) 289177 extension 216 or via email at Lee.Pugh@shrewsburytown.co.uk
