Marsden out for up to eight weeks

8 August 2013

And Winfield also missing for same timescale

Striker John Marsden has been ruled out of Graham Turner's plans for between six to eight weeks after breaking a bone in his foot in the early stages of Tuesday night's Capital One Cup game against Bolton Wanderers.

Central defender Dave Winfield, the summer signing from Wycombe Wanderers, is also expected to be missing for a similar length of time owing to his hamstring injury.

"It's a shame for John having tasted his first league football to have broken a bone in his foot and he will probably be out for six to eight weeks," said GT.

"It's the same with Dave Winfield. It's looking about eight weeks before he's going to be available which are serious blows to us but we can overcome them."

Striker Akwasi Asante is making progress from his hamstring injury sustained in the pre-season friendly against Bolton last month but Saturday's trip to Leyton Orient will come too soon for him to be involved.
