The youth team finish their pre-season with a defeat

Our final pre-season game ended in defeat at the hands of an experienced Newtown team. At the end of the first half we found ourselves 2-0 down after conceding two needless goals. A frustrating first half saw us was waste possession countless times when inside the Newtown half. A complete lack of quality on the ball, creativity, and imagination in the final third saw us play numerous passes straight out of play or into the goalkeeper’s hands. For the start of the second half we made 7 changes and started brightly, pulling a goal back through Sam Molyneux. However, 2 quick goals put the game beyond us and Newtown missed a host of chances before making it 5-1 as we struggled to regain our composure.
With the last kick of the game, Niall Flint scored a well taken free kick to make it 5-2. On Saturday we travel to Blackpool for our first league game, hopefully we will see a more organised and intelligent performance.
The youth side now kick-off their league campaign on Saturday with a trip to Blackpool.
