Christmas visit to the Rainbow Ward at the RSH

The Shrewsbury Town players visited the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital on Monday to bring some Christmas cheer to the children’s ward.

There are a number of children who will be spending the Christmas period in hospital and the players are taking the time this week to visit the RSH, Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt in Oswestry and Hope House to spend time with the children and take presents.

Monday saw the first of the visits with Tamika Mkandawire, David Winfield, Adam Reach, Tom Eaves, Alex McQuade, Aaron Wildig and John Marsden popping along to the Rainbow Ward at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

The lads spent time talking to the children and parents, reading stories, making cards as well as talking to the nurses and staff on the wards.

Town captain Tamika Mkandawire hopes the visit helped to raise spirits a little to those on the ward:” As professional athletes, we realise we're in a very fortunate position so for us to take a little time out of our day to visit people who are not well and to hand over a present is something we are always happy to do.”
