Taylor returns for reserves today

10 December 2013

JT travels with squad to take on Wrexham this afternoon

Winger Jon Taylor will make his return from a knee injury in a strong looking Shrewsbury Town reserve team at Wrexham this afternoon.

Taylor has missed the last four League One matches but trained yesterday and manager Graham Turner is looking forward to running the rule over him in the Central League clash.

"I think he'll probably play just over a half," said Graham. "He trained for the first time with the rest of the squad yesterday and I would expect him to probably get an hour today.

"If there's no setbacks and he looks okay, that could well put him in contention for a place on Saturday."

Defender Jermaine Grandison will also take part with the manager expecting him to play a little longer than the 45 minutes he was given against Port Vale reserves last Tuesday.

"I think it's got to be a bit more," he said. "I've set a target for the medical people to get him right and to be in contention in about three weeks time. He's joining in all the training now and his match time is important.

"I would expect him to get at least an hour providing there's no setback."

A number of other first team squad members will also feature this afternoon with goalkeeper Joe Anyon, Dave Winfield, Dave McAllister, Tom Bradshaw and John Marsden all involved.

The manager added: "They'll get good game time in but I just think it's a pity it's not on the big pitch at Wrexham, it's at the training ground, but it's an opportunity for them to get a match."
