Players going in the annual panto at Hope House

Six Shrewsbury Town players were honoured to he handed guest roles in Hope House Children's Hospice panto during a pre-Christmas visit to the hospice at Morda, near Oswestry.

Joe Jacobson, Paul Parry, Tom Bradshaw, Joe Anyon, Jon Taylor and David McAllister donned Santa hats to sing "I'm a Lumberjack" to the delight of the watching children and adults.

The crowd also included Town manager Graham Turner who said his players always enjoyed going out into the community to meet people.

He said: “It helps to put things into perspective. Footballers can very easily become enveloped in their own lives and taken up with the adulation of the fans. This gives them an insight into the real world.”

Left back Jacobson added: “It was a real pleasure to come along and meet everyone and get involved.”

Shrewsbury Town players also enjoyed visits to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and Oswestry's Orthopaedic Hospital to hand out Christmas presents to youngsters.
