GT says more signings could follow

Backing there for GT to add more new faces to the squad

Graham Turner has revealed there's scope to bring in more signings following the arrival of Chris Porter on loan from Sheffield United.

The manager is pleased to have brought Porter, an experienced striker, to Shrewsbury Town for the next month and said there's a possibility other new recruits could follow.

"Just because we've brought one in doesn't mean to say that's the end of it," he said. "What we've got to do is attempt to ensure our survival this season and I know I've got the backing of the chairman in anything I want to do in terms of bringing players in.

"Although Chris Porter's arrived, that doesn't mean the end of it.

"The transfer window closes for the rest of the season on the third Thursday in March and we have got to give ourselves plenty of time in getting things sorted out, whether we can do anything if we can, but there's certainly scope to bring more players in."

GT added he was pleased to have brought in Porter who trained with his new Shrewsbury team mates for the first time yesterday.

He said: "Chris has got a lot of experience, he's played at a good level and he's played in 19 of Sheffield United's games this season and they're a club near the top of the table so he's been doing something right to be in their side.

"He's capable of getting a goal or two. He can hold the ball up for us, he can bring other players into play and he's got a good understanding of the game so we're obviously pleased to have got him in."
