Experienced striker joins on loan ahead of Tranmere game
Shrewsbury Town have this morning confirmed the signing of striker Chris Porter on loan from League 1 side Sheffield United.
Porter started his career with Bury before joining Oldham Athletic and playing two seasons in League 1 for the club. This was followed by moves to Motherwell in the SPL, then Derby County in League 1 before joining his current club Sheffield United.
The loan is for an initial month and the news is a boost for Graham Turner ahead of Friday nights SKY game away to Tranmere Rovers. It’s taken a while for GT to bring in an extra striker but he’s pleased to have someone of Chris’s experience on board:”As fans will know we’ve been looking to strengthen for a while now and it’s good news that Chris is joining the squad.
“In Chris we have an experienced player who has scored goals at every level that he has played at.
“He has played a good number of games this season for Sheffield United in League 1 as well as playing for Derby County in the Championship and Motherwell in the SPL.
“I’m pleased that we have been able to add some of Chris’s calibre to the squad and it will help strengthen our attacking options.”
