Striker search goes on

GT working on strengthening the Town squad

Graham Turner continues to chase striking reinforcements ahead of the loan window opening on Friday.

The Shrewsbury Town manager made no secret of his frustration in the days leading up to the January transfer window closing last Thursday night, but he remains keen to bolster his attacking options.

"We're still working on it," he said. "You throw in one or two cheeky ones as well. There's a player who just six months ago changed hands for over £1 million and I tried to get him on loan this morning - I got a curt reply from that club though!

"You ask for these things and one or two managers owe me favours but I'm not getting them at the moment.

"It was probably the most frustrating 24, 48 hours leading up to the close of the transfer window when you think your close and then it doesn't materialise. For us it opens again in Friday so it's not like the Premier League where it's closed for good.

"I'm still waiting for answers from two clubs tomorrow on the loan of players."
