Town Train At Sports Village

1 February 2013

Thursday saw the first team decamp to Sundorne

One of the problems over the winter months is the availability of training surfaces for the first team to prepare on.  Recently the team has been using the training pitches and stadium at the Greenhous Meadow as well as the facilities up at RAF Shawbury.

On Thursday there was another change of scenery as the squad and coaches made the short trip up to the Shrewsbury Sports Village at Sundorne.

It was a nice change of scenery and one that Graham Turner was grateful to use:”It’s been another very difficult week with the pitches as everywhere is a quagmire.

“Tuesday we worked very hard with the group who weren’t involved with the reserves game at  Bury.

“The reserves played at Radcliffe Borough on a horrible pitch but did well and came away with a 1-0 victory.

“On Thursday we went up to Shrewsbury Sports Village and trained on their best grass pitch to get a good session in.

“It was a good surface and we appreciate the chance to get on there and have a good days training.”
