'We Should Have Won'

15 February 2013

Jacobson looking forward to taking on Tranmere again

The big games keep coming for Shrewsbury Town with the next assignment a televised clash at promotion contenders Tranmere Rovers tonight.

Left back Joe Jacobson said it was a match to look forward to as Town aim to put more daylight between themselves and the bottom four at the expense of a Tranmere side knocked off the top of League One in midweek.

"It's always nice playing on Sky and if we can catch them at a bit of an off time then it's only going to help us," said Jacobson.

"We had a good game against them here earlier in the season. We should have won and seen it out as they scored in the last couple of minutes.

"They know we're not a bad team but they're obviously up there for a reason and they've got good players and a big squad to choose from.

"It's up to us to go there and perform and show how good we are as well and that we're in a false position that we think we're in."

Jacobson added the Town squad were fully aware what's required to start moving them up the table.

"We're still in a battle, there's no question about that," he said. "There's teams that are going to start playing against each other and will pick up points here and there.

"It's up to us get out of it. We've had a decent run. We may not have won many games but we've not lost many either.

"We've started to climb our way out of the relegation zone and trouble, but we find ourselves back in it and we know we've got a big 14 games left this season to pick up points and to get wins because we're far from safe at the moment."
