Experienced defender comes in to bolster defence

Shrewsbury Town had this evening confirmed the loan signing of experienced central defender Rob Edwards on a month’s loan from Championship side Barnsley.

The Telford born defender started his career progressing through the youth ranks at Aston Villa.  He made his senior debut for the Birmingham club in the Premier League but is best known for spells with Wolves and Blackpool where he played during their season in the Premier League.

He has recently had spells with Norwich and Barnsley and now joins Town ahead of the weekend trip to Preston North End.

Graham Turner was pleased to have added someone with Rob’s experience to the Town squad:”With Jermaine being out of action for a while we needed to bolster our defensive options.

“To get some with Rob Edwards’s experience is a big boost to the squad and we are delighted to have Rob in join the squad.”

The move is subject to confirmation of the paperwork by the FA and Football League.
