Reserves hosting Morecambe

15 January 2013

Strong side named for GM reserve game

Shrewsbury Town will be fielding a strong reserve team for this afternoon's Central League clash at home to Morecambe (2pm).

The Greenhous Meadow pitch is in good condition despite the current cold snap and manager Graham Turner is looking to the players involved to enhance their claims of being involved in Saturday's trip to Swindon.

"The ground staff covered the pitch immediately after Saturday's match knowing what the forecast was," said the boss. "They've removed some of the covers and it's actually in good condition.

"The players who played on Saturday against Hartlepool will train on it this morning and then we've got the reserve match at 2pm."

Town's three loan signings Steve McGinn, Yado Mambo and Cameron Gayle will all play against a Morecambe side including former Shrewsbury goalkeeper Andreas Arestidou.

GT added: "People like Joe Anyon need a game and Steve McGinn needs a full game so we'll see how he goes so he's in contention for a starting place at Swindon on Saturday.

"We've got Aaron Wildig, Asa Hall, Paul Parry's playing after his illness, Tom Bradshaw needs some game time, it will be our first opportunity to have a look at Yado Mambo at centre half, Cameron Gayle, so on paper it's a fairly strong side.

"It will be good for them to get some game time on a decent surface for players who want to stake a claim for a place in the first team."

Admission to this afternoon's game is £3 adults and £1 concessions while season ticket holders, Sovereign Club members and Super Blues Club members will be admitted free.
