Loan turns into short term deal until end of season

Luke Rodgers has this morning signed a contract to keep him at Shrewsbury Town until the end of the season.

The striker initially joined the club on loan from Portsmouth in November but the move has now been made permanent after his contract at Fratton Park expired.

"I'm glad to get it signed and I'm pleased to be here," said Rodgers, who turned 31 on New Year's Day. "I feel like the team's in good form at the moment and I'm glad to be a part of it.

"I want a few more goals but I've just got to keep working hard and hopefully that will come."

Rodgers is now battling to overcome a rib injury to be available for Saturday's trip to Swindon.

"I got a bang early in the last game against Hartlepool and I was struggling," he said. "I wish I had come off but hopefully it will go in the next few days."
