Elliot Turner not offered extended deal

Shrewsbury Town have opted not to extend the six-month professional deal they handed to young midfielder Elliot Turner last summer.

Dudley-born Turner, who captained the youth team last season and has played regularly for the reserves this term, has wasted no time to fix himself up with a new club and made his debut for Blue Square Premier outfit Tamworth on Wednesday night.

"Elliot is a very conscientious young pro and has done everything we've asked of him," said Shrewsbury manager Graham Turner.

"In the end we have decided not to offer an extension to his inital six-month contract.

"Elliot is a decent young player who has a chance of making it in the game and we wish him all the best for the future."

The teenage midfielder with a keen eye for goal came on as a substitute for Tamworth as they beat Nuneaton 2-1 at The Lamb on Wednesday night to move further clear of the relegation zone in the Blue Square Premier.
