Another week and more hard work
Another week of pre-season training has passed and it’s been another tough week for Graham Turner’s players.
It’s been 5 days of double sessions for the team as the workload increases to get the fitness levels up ahead of the big opening pre-season game against Turkish giants Galatasaray.
The week has been split between the training ground, sessions at the Shrewsbury Club and a number of runs around challenging courses around the town.
With summer really arriving on Friday and temperatures well into the 20’s the players got down to some of the toughest work so far.
A morning session on the training pitch for fitness and ball work was followed by a midday trip to Lawley hill just outside Church Stretton. Everyone made their way up the hill for awhile before some work to stretch the muscles; John Trewick continued the assent and marked out a 1,000 yard course for the lads to tackle. They ran this course four times, but once they had finished the final run John revealed that they would be continuing on over Caer Carado and back round the bridleway before returning to where they had parked their cars.
The lads are now having a well earned break over the weekend before the work ramps up once again next week.
