Tam excited by Galatasaray test

Defender quickly feeling at home

Tamika Mkandawire insists he cannot wait for the chance to pull on a Shrewsbury Town shirt for the first time in the glamour pre-season friendly against Galatasaray.

The Turkish giants will head to the Greenhous Meadow on Saturday, July 13 with Mkandawire, who joined Town after three seasons with Millwall, excited by the prospect of  facing the likes of Didier Drogba.

"It's huge fixture," said the central defender. "They're a massive team with some top, top players so it's a challenge and it's something to look forward to.

"You always want to test yourself against the best and I don't think we could probably ask for much of a better fixture for a pre-season friendly."

Mkandawire, one of three summer signings so far, added he had quickly been made to feel at home with Shrewsbury.

"Everyone has made it really easy for me to settle in," he said. "They're a good bunch of lads and everyone has been really helpful."
