The game kicked off in sweltering temperatures at the Greenhous Meadow as Town welcomed visitors Turkish champions Galatasaray.

It was evident from the first kick that it would be an afternoon of running for the homeside as Galatasaray looked very comfortable in possession of the ball.  It was the visitors who took the early advantage when Emre Colak calmly slotted the ball past Weale following a good Galatasaray move.

The skill was evident from Galatasaray and when Sarioglu received the ball just outside the Town box he hit a lovely curling shot with the outside of his foot but Weale was equal to it with great finger tipped save.

After a water break on the half-hour mark Town were starting to see more of the ball around the visitors box.  Town were pressing the ball looking for an opening, Wildig chipped the ball over the Gala defence but they regained possessionn and then broke with pace down the left, a lovely ball in behind Goldson saw Amrabat burst into the Town box and calmly push the ball wide of the outrushing Weale to make it 2-0 to Galatasaray.

Weale was again Town's saviour just before the half-time whistle when Amrabat once again found space to push through, Weale remained big and got in an important block to keep it 2-0.

The game was still following the pattern of Galatasaray having a lot of possession and Town chasing looking to regain the ball so they could counter.  There were a couple of good openings for the visitors but town also had their chances with Marsden, Winfield and Jones having a couple of decent efforts in on goal.

One of the biggest cheers of the afternoon was when a number of Galatasaray subs emerged to do some warm-ups in front of the family stand, Drogba, Sneijder et all were finally about to grace the Greenhous Meadow turf.

Town were inches away from getting a goal back after good pressure from Marsden saw him close down the Galatasaray keeper, Wildig intercepted the clearance and then fed it into the run of McAllister who skipped past one challenge and then burst into the box before driving a shot across goal which beat Ercetin but agonisingly went just past the post.

With just over 5-minutes of the game remaining Galatasaray grabbed a third goal, a good break down the middle from Kurtulus saw Goldson make a great slide tackle on the edge of the box but the luck was with the visitors as the ball rebounded back up and into the path of Kurtulus, he drove in a shot that McQuaid did well to block on the like but Sneijder was in the right place  to pick up th e lose ball and smash it into the empty net.
