Goals from Ryan, Anderson and an OG
Town’s youth side kicked off their pre-season campaign with a trip to St Georges to take on Burton Albion.
After a sloppy first five minutes the energetic youth team controlled and dominated large parts of this first pre-season game at the wonderful facilities at St George's Park against Burton.
Alex Ashton tipped over a well struck free kick on 4 minutes resulting in a corner which Burton scored from but denied for pushing, an early wakeup call and one that got a positive response from the lads.
Scott Ryan looked a threat when linking with Anderson and following some good play down their left Ryan found himself just inside the box to strike an unstoppable shot into the top corner on 12 minutes.
Continuing good pressure and hard work Jeff Watkins was rewarded when he forced the keeper into a dreadful error to make it 2-0 and finally some more great link play from Ryan and Anderson found Anderson clear, one on one with the keeper who he calmly went round and placed the ball into an empty net for 3-0.
A pleasing first pre-season game as we look to build from this on Saturday against Coventry at Lilleshall.
