Defender Winfield signs

Ex Wycombe Captain joins up

Graham Turner has made his second signing of the summer after landing big defender Dave Winfield who was out of contract at Wycombe Wanderers.

Winfield, 25, started his career at his home town club Aldershot before joining Wycombe for a tribunal set £25,000 in the summer of 2010.

He was a popular figure at Adams Park where he was captain.

He clocked up just over 100 games, helping Wycombe to promotion from League Two in his first season with the club.

Central defender Winfield is six-foot-three.

"He's delighted to be joining us and sees it as a big challenge," said manager Graham Turner. "He's a big, strong lad who is effective in both boxes.

"It's a big challenge for him coming here and there's plenty of scope for him to improve yet."

Winfield will officially become a Shrewsbury player on July 1.
