GT looking forward to starting again tomorrow
Graham Turner is looking forward to welcoming his Shrewsbury Town first team squad back for the start of pre-season training tomorrow.
The start date is a bit earlier than usual as the Football League season kicks off on August 3 with Town at home to MK Dons on the opening day.
"We've kept contact with most of them through the close season obviously and some of them have re-signed," said the manager.
"We've had lengthy talks with the new players and it will be nice to get them altogether to start off with the pre-season."
GT added: "You can almost guaranee the weather will be red hot and you can guarantee that the pitches will start to get hard and that players will suffer in the heat.
"But that is part of pre-season and I'm sure they're all looking forward to it, despite the fact it's going to be hard work, and there's no disguising that.
"We need to get a good level of fitness and that comes with a lot of endurance work, particularly over the first 10 days of the programme.
"We'll be straight into ball work as well. There will be double sessions when it's basically football and then the endurance work in the afternoon sessions so it will be a good mix of the technical work we need to do and also endurance work."
