Senior Shrews Luncheon introduced

20 June 2013

Weekly get together at the Greenhous Meadow

Shrewsbury Town's hospitality department have teamed up with the the club's Community Trust to offer a new Senior Shrews Luncheon service each week which will also feature entertaining guest speakers.

A set two-course lunch will be served every Wednesday at the Greenhous Meadow from noon, starting next week, for senior members of the local community.

The club's executive head chef Paul Crowe has created a delicious range of lunches, using fresh home grown produce from his garden here at the Meadow, with the set two-course lunch priced at just £6.95 per person.

Lunch will be followed at 1.30pm by a variety of guest speakers from within the local community offering presentations and demonstrations.

The launch of this exciting new venture will take place next Wednesday, June 26 with town crier Martin Wood the first special guest speaker.

Martin will present a speech on 'Have Bell, Will Yell', the history of town criers, which features a host of funny anecdotes so it's not to be missed!

Jenny Daniel, Shrewsbury Town's community development officer, said: "It's fantastic to be able to work with our hospitality department to create this opportunity where we can invite senior members of our local community to come and dine at Shrewsbury Town Football Club.

"This will also allow them to meet with, and listen to presentations delivered by people from local businesses and community groups in the local area.

"I hope this will attract many senior members from the community to join us at the Greenhous Meadow."
