Football coaching for children aged 4 to 14

Shrewsbury Town's Community Sports Trust, headed by former club captain Brian Williams, have organised more of their popular football coaching courses for the summer school holidays.

Open to boys and girls aged between four and 14, a number of courses have been arranged to take place at the Greenhous Meadow.

Other courses have been lined up for Wem, Ellesmere and Shawbury, with Brian and his team recommending early booking to avoid possible disappointment.

Courses will be held at the Power League pitches next to the Greenhous Meadow between July 24-26, August 5-7, August 12-16 and August 27-30.

Special courses for goakeepers and strikers will take place on the Shrewsbury Town training pitch from July 29 to August 2 and between August 19-23.

For children who live outside the town, three courses have also been arranged in north Shropshire.

They will be held at Ellesmere Primary School between July 24-26, Wem Cricket Club from July 30 to August 1 and Shawbury's St Mary's School between August 5-7.

The courses in Shrewsbury will operate from 9am to 3pm, with the three north Shropshire training camps running between 10.30am to 3pm.

A full day, from 9am to 3pm, costs £18 with special rates available of £45 for three days, £55 for four days and £65 for five days.

To train from 10.30am to 3pm is £14 per day, £35 for three days, £40 for four days and £50 for five days.

And to train between 9am and noon costs £10 per day, £30 for four days and £35 for five days.

All players must bring PE/football kit, shin pads, a change of clothes and a packed lunch.

"The main aim of the courses is to improve and develop individual skills and an understanding of positional and team play in a fun and safe environment," said Brian.

"There is also the chance to win medals, trophies and footballs for the player of the day, the most valuable player, the most improved and the best behaved."

Meanwhile, weekly coaching centres continue to take place at the Power League pitches each Saturday morning from 9.30am to 11am at a cost of £5 per session until the summer break on July 13.

Monday's Development Centre session run from 4.45-5.45pm and is £5 weekly or £20 for five weeks.

There are also Football Fridays between 4pm-5pm at a cost of £5 per session or £20 for five weeks.
