CST looking for advice, help, ideas and funding
Can You Help The Community?
We are looking for advice, help, ideas or funding from any supporters, volunteers, local businesses or any other organisations that would like to get involved with some of the key projects that we are looking to develop during the next 12 months.
The Community Sports Trust is the charitable arm of Shrewsbury Town Football Club. We come in to contact with well over 1,000 children and adults every week ranging from sports coaching in schools, health projects with ex-armed service personnel, educational visits and social Inclusion sessions.
We deliver in four main themes of work: Sports Participation, Health, Inclusion & Disability and Education.
All of the work we do in the Community is self-financed. We are always looking for funding opportunities and different ways to sustain certain projects.
A good example is the Extra Time Project that was set up 12 months ago offering adults aged over 60 the chance to meet once a week to socialise and take part in a variety of activities.
We now have a regular group of 20 who come together each week at the football club.
This particular project has been a fantastic success and has given some people from different backgrounds a new focus.
The funding from the Football Foundation ran out in December 2012 which has put the long term plans for the session at risk. We are currently exploring other funding options but at present have been unsuccessful. COULD YOU HELP?
Classroom/Education Suite/Function room - The aim is to purchase our own mobile building which will be the base for all of our community work - or to locate somewhere similar with suitable space within the community.
The savings that we would make on facility hire alone would be massive and enable us to transform the community scheme here at STFC.
Weather it was running a new programme of children’s matchday activities or the new home of Thursdays Extra Time session, the opportunities are endless. COULD YOU HELP?
Please get in touch if you think you could help in any way by contacting Lee Pugh, Community Development Manager at Shrewsbury Town, on (01743) 289177 extension 216 or via email at lee.pugh@shrewsburytown.co.uk
