Shrewsbury Town FC and Shropshire Football Association Partnership

Shrewsbury Town FC and Shropshire Football Association Partnership

The Shropshire FA are delighted to announce the strengthening of their partnership with Shrewsbury Town FC in the future development of football throughout Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin. Both recognise that our most senior professional league football club offers significant development opportunities and that it is in the mutual interests of the two organisations to plan their development work together and to support the Shropshire FA 2013/14 County Football Development Plan, which will be signed off by Council at a specially arranged meeting on 20th March 2013.

The SFA are pleased to welcome Martin James, Head of Community Development at STFC, onto the Shropshire FA Council, and Malcolm Starkey, President of STFC, receives Life Membership of the Association.  Martin will also serve on the SFA Football Development committee.

Together the SFA and STFC will provide a major platform to drive forward the development of all aspects of the game across the communities of Shropshire.

Andrew Pugh, General Manager of STFC, reflecting on the hard work already put in says, “Football at grassroots through to professional level in the County can only benefit from this enhanced relationship. The SFA are tasked by the Football Association to work in areas such as growth and retention, raising standards and football skill levels, facility, volunteer and workforce development. STFC is pleased to be able to contribute to the plan and help implement its innovative strategy across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin.”
