GT lands another target

Graham Turner has bolstered his attacking options by signing highly rated Reading striker Gozie Ugwu on a youth loan until January 2.

The Oxford-born striker progressed through the Royals Academy to sign a professional contract in June 2011.

Gozie, 20, spent time on loan in the Blue Square Premier with Ebbsfleet  in the 2011/12 season, scoring four goals in nine appearances.

He also had two loan spells away from Reading last season with Yeovil Town and Plymouth Argyle as he gained Football League experience.

"I've been chasing Gozie for some time and it's pleasing to have finally been able to secure his services," said Shrewsbury manager Graham Turner.

"I had hoped to bring him in on loan earlier this season having watched him play for Reading's under-21s but he did so well that night Reading wanted to hold on to him for a while longer.

"I've continued to keep a close eye on him and Gozie gives us another attacking option. He's a good addition to the squad."

Ugwu, who is six-foot-one, will be available for Shrewsbury's trip to Port Vale on Saturday.
