Wroe's up for the FA Cup!

8 November 2013

Nicky hoping to be on the score sheet again

Nicky Wroe scored the winner the last time he played for Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup - a positive omen perhaps ahead of tomorrow's first round trip to Walsall.

The midfielder held his nerve to fire home a late penalty as Town came from behind to beat Rotherham United 2-1 in round two at the Greenhous Meadow in December 2010, but he missed the third round trip to Middlesbrough a few weeks later owing to injury.

"Yes, I remember that," said Wroe. "I've scored a few goals in the FA Cup previously and it's always a really good competition to do well in.

"It's a good opportunity for the lads, especially with us having a young squad, to showcase what they're all about.

"Hopefully we can win on Saturday and see who we get in the next round. We'll definitely be concentrating on Walsall, looking to go there and be positive, and get on a good run."

Wroe is just pleased to be available to face the Saddlers after this week extending his loan spell from Preston until January.

"I came just for a month initially so it's nice to extend it," he added. "It gives me the opportunity to play at the weekend, if selected, and I'm looking forward to knowing where I am for the next couple of months and really getting stuck in."
