Lopez happy with Meadow move

Cristian looking forward to Town chance

Spanish striker Cristian Lopez, Shrewsbury Town's new arrival on loan from Huddersfield, says he had always wanted to play in England.

Lopez, 24, joined Huddersfield on a one-year deal in the summer and has made two appearances as a substitute for the Championship club this season.

"Since I was young I've supported English football and wanted to play in England so I'm happy to now be playing in England," said Lopez, who trained with his new Shrewsbury team mates for the first time this morning.

"I'm not playing at Huddersfield at the moment so coming to Shrewsbury is an important opportunity for me to play."

Lopez, who is six-foot-one, has a decent goalscoring record in his native Spain and will be available for Saturday's home game against Gillingham.

He added: "Last year I was with Atletico Balearto who play in a division similar to League One. I previously played for Real Madrid's second team, Valencia's second team and Alicante."
