Summerfield: "Every game is winnable"

4 October 2013

Luke confident that the results will come

Luke Summerfield is hopeful back-to-back Greenhous Meadow matches can help Shrewsbury Town improve their points tally.

Town host Carlisle United on Saturday before hosting Gillingham the following weekend, with Summerfield convinced that Shrewsbury's bright level of performance for much of the season suggests a return to winning ways is on the agenda.

"Every game is winnable in this league and these two are no different," said the midfielder. "We've played well, especially in the first half against Wolves, and if we carry that into the next two games we should have no problem getting the wins."

Town were again left to count the cost of a late goal last weekend with Bradford City grabbing a winner at Valley Parade deep into stoppage time.

"It was tough," admitted Summerfield. "It was more or less the last kick of the game and we were bitterly disappointed, but we've got another game to look forward to on Saturday."

The former Plymouth and Cheltenham man added it was also important other players, himself included, started to weigh in with a few goals to support four-goal top scorer Tom Bradshaw.

"Bradders has scored a few goals and done well for us," he said. "Hopefully he can carry on scoring goals, but it's not just down to the centre forwards to score goals.

"We need as a whole unit, as a squad, to chip in with goals."
