Tom Bradshaw’s fifth of the season and a stoppage time Paul Parry effort gave Town a share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw against Carlisle United after the Cumbrians had struck twice in the final five minutes to put them in control.

The clash took a while to kick into life, and it was the visitors from Cumbria who were the first to show their hand in front of goal on 21 minutes. David Amoo did well to get to the by-line on the right before clipping in a neat cross for Matty Robson to glance narrowly wide of Weale’s right-hand post.

Town threatened for the first time after 36 minutes when Jon Taylor’s pace worried the Carlisle back line and he curled in a deep cross for Adam Reach, who could only header over the crossbar.

Four minutes later, almost from nowhere, Bradshaw pounced to grab Town the lead. Carlisle cleared a corner up-field and charged out, but the ball was hooked back towards the box and an onside Bradshaw raced in one-on-one to steer past the goalkeeper to steal the advantage before the break.

The Cumbrians almost hit back five minutes after the restart when half-time substitute Dave Symington whipped in a masterful cross, but Robson was unable to keep his volley down as watched as it sailed into the stand.

Carlisle continued to push and it took a headed goal-line clearance from Aaron Wildig on 55 minutes to stop Amoo heading the visitors level from a dangerous corner.

Town began to regain a foothold in the game and it was Taylor who forced Gillespie into action on 71 minutes, the keeper beating away the ferocious 25-yard drive from the winger.

As the visitors began to push men on in search of an equaliser, Town were able to pick the spaces in the backline and it was a swift counter from Reach that almost provided the second goal 16 minutes from time when he cut inside and shot, but his weak effort was saved with ease.

As Town looked to be closing the game out for the points, the visitors took advantage of some hesitant defending to snatch the equaliser just four minutes from full-time. Amoo was afforded too much space in the six yard box and took two attempts to score after a neat cut-back, firing his second high into the roof of the net.

Carlisle’s dominance continued to grow and their late pressure was awarded again when Sean O’Hanlon headed home a corner in the 90th minute to send the away supporters into raptures.

But the action wasn’t done there. Barely a minute after the game restarted, lapse defending in the Cumbrian ranks allowed Parry in on goal and the experienced head had no trouble in steering under Gillespie to cap off a breathtaking final five minutes to give Town a share of the points.
