Poor first half sees Town lose to Wrexham

A below par performance from the lads in the first half gave them an uphill challenge for the game at home to Wrexham with the visitors leading 2-0 at the break.

After the interval the lads came out much more purpose in the second half looked to get back into the game. Wayne Evans brought Sam Molyneux on just after the break and this made a big impact as his pace and movement led to an equaliser, with Kaiman Anderson helping the ball over the line after terrific work down the left from Molyneux.

Sadly the old adage of you're never more vulnerable when you've just scored proved to be the case again and individual errors gave a soft second goal for Wrexham.

This knocked the boys back and gave the impetus back to their Welsh visitors and was quickly followed up by a free flowing move down the Wrexham left wing and a third and killer goal.

Credit to the lads they battled back in to the game and Ryan Hickman twice hit the woodwork in quick succession from set plays. Sam Molyneux went even closer with a dangerous free kick that rebounded off the inside of the post with the keeper well beaten.

Not to be deterred another free kick on the edge of the box from Molyneux was superbly struck into the corner with the keeper helpless to make it 2-3 but sadly that was to be the final score.

Town are next in action on Saturday with another home game in Youth Alliance League Cup game against Tranmere.
