Town win FA’s award for the 2012/13 season

Each year The FA supports a number of awards in the Premier League and Football League to recognise the clubs finishing top of a Fair Play league table.

This is produced using marks provided by the appointed Match Delegate which combines sanctions and dismissals, positive play, Respect towards opponents and officials and the behaviour of team officials. In the Football League The FA provides prize money of £10,000 to the club finishing the season at the top of the Fair Play League, in the Championship, Football League I and 2.

Shrewsbury Town FC along with Crewe Alexander are the Football League 1 winners and share the prize money.

Barry Bright Leader of The FA Council was invited to present the cheque to Shrewsbury Town, Mr Malcolm Starkey ahead of Saturday’s home win against Stevenage.

The club is obliged to spend this prize money on an approved football project. Shrewsbury Town have spent this money on increased training and specialist equipment to enhance the experience for disabled players taking part in the Community Sport Trusts courses.
