Vital game for Town and Taylor today
Top scorer Jon Taylor knows it's another vital game for Shrewsbury Town this weekend as he heads back to Merseyside to take on Tranmere Rovers.
Taylor's eighth goal of the season proved enough to beat Stevenage last weekend and now he wants to claim three more points against Tranmere who have two notable Shrewsbury connections.
Former Town No 2 John McMahon is currently in charge of Tranmere while ex-Shrewsbury striker Ryan Lowe is well out in front at the top of the Prenton Park goal charts.
Taylor said: "I was here when John was and he was great. He looked after me, he's a great coach and I like John a lot, but I'll do absolutely everything to take the three points off him.
"I know Ryan because obviously he's a Liverpool lad but I wasn't here when he was. He's a goalscorer and if gets the ball and a good chance he can finish them.
"We've got to do our stuff with the ball and without the ball, and the defenders will hopefully do a job on him."
Taylor knows it's important that Town build on taking three points against Stevenage with just five matches left now in the season.
"I think we definitely needed to win that game," he said. "It was a bit of a shame that all the other teams around us won but we can't worry about them.
"If we do our job then that's all that matters. The rest will look after itself."
Taylor added that Town's travelling supporters can also play a big part at Tranmere after helping steer Shrewsbury to victory last weekend.
The Liverpudlian winger said: "The fans were absolutely excellent last Saturday. They got us through the game and really pushed us on. That's what we need.
"I was thinking about this game straight after Stevenage so it's been in my head for a while so hopefully I can play well on Saturday and we can win the game."
